Ethereal
A free astrology app that computes everything on-device: your natal chart, the live sky right now, and how any two charts connect.
Overview
Ethereal turns birth data into a living map of the sky. A Swiss Ephemeris engine runs entirely on-device, so every chart is computed from real planetary positions, never pulled from a server or faked. I designed and built it end to end on Flutter and Firebase.
Challenge
Astrology is one of the most crowded categories on the stores, and most apps recycle the same daily horoscope for everyone. Ethereal had to be genuinely personal and genuinely computed, with nothing canned.
What I built
Three surfaces, all off the same on-device ephemeris: a full natal chart from date, time, and place; a live transit view that recomputes the real sky against your chart minute by minute, retrogrades and all; and a compatibility reading that derives the actual aspects between two people's charts. No backend calls for the astronomy, so it works offline and stays private.
Outcome
Shipped free on Google Play, powered entirely by on-device computation.
